SO WHAT DOES A COMMUNITY LOOK LIKE?
I think we would all be surprised at the many different versions and ideas people have of community - they are endless. Do you think of the art association you belong to? Or your work colleagues? Or the online video gaming group you play with? Or the place where you live? Or your shared cultural heritage? Or the religious group you are a part of?
I think the main point is that you don’t have to do this alone. Community means more than one. It means not being lonely with the way you live. What community or communities are you a part of? What type of community are you interested in?
I am really fascinated by the huge diversity of communities. As I travel this wonderful country of ours, the variety and types of living is enormous. Within a few hours, you can travel from the biggest urban centers to the sparse areas out there. Communities vary from the Cajun bayou fishing villages to the theater district of New York City - and everything in between. It is, of course, not limited to my country, but also across the globe.
Each type of community provides a sense of belonging and support to its members, fostering connections and shared experiences. I look forward to sharing information and stories about the many assorted groups of people we encounter.
